In November 2014 the University celebrated its 75th Anniversary. The Anniversary is the time when we estimate the past, comprehend the present and plan the future. University met its Anniversary worthily not only demonstrating its correspondence to modern demands but also having great creative and professional potential. The results that the University has already gained are the basis for its future success, the outcome of the intense work of those who have created the University’s reputation. The history of Murmansk Arctic State University lets us look forward with certainty, because during this period the University has become the center of science and culture in the Kola North and its graduates, being the intellectual elite of the region, strengthen and increase its glory.

Meeting with the DAAD representatives Печать

On the 15th of May Dr. Gregor Berghorn, Head of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the German Houses of Research and Innovation in Russia (DWIH) in Moscow, and Dr. Michael Kleineberg, Head of Information Center of the German Academic Exchange Service in Saint-Petersburg, visited MSHU.

During the meeting with the Acting Rector, First Vice Rector, Ass.Prof. Irina Shadrina, Vice-Rector for Science and Research Prof. Galina Zhigunova, Head of the Department of Scientific Work and International Cooperation Ass. Prof. Inna Ryzhkova, Senior Lecturer Tatiana Sokolovskaya the guests shared experience of the German HEIs in the sphere of internationalization and academic mobility.
Presentation of the Book "70 Years of Peace at the Border. 1944-2014" Печать

On June 5, 2015 Murmansk State Humanities University hosted a presentation of the Norwegian-Russian publishing project "70 Years of Peace at the Border. 1944-2014" which culminated in publication of collaborative effort," 70 Years of Peace in the Borderlands: 1944-2014. Stories of Contemporaries" (Kirkenes, 2014). The book is a record of memories of Russian and Norwegian residents of border areas in the region covering the period from liberation of Northern Norway by Soviet troops in 1944 to the present. It is the product of many enthusiasts on both sides of the border, participants and witnesses of historical events - from World War II to development of public diplomacy and cooperation between Russia and Norway in the post-Soviet period.
Meeting with the Barents Institute representatives Печать

On the 6th of May 2015 MSHU had an official visit by the delegation from the Norwegian Barents Institute, headed by Director of the Institute Marianne Solheim. The delegation included members of the board of the Barents Institute, which at this stage is part of the Arctic University of Norway.

During the meeting with the Rector of Murmansk State Humanities University professor Andrey Sergeev, Vice-Rector for Science and Research professor Galina Zhigunova and Head of Research Work and International Cooperation Office assoc. prof. Inna Ryzhkova they discussed the main directions of research activity in both organizations, defined the basic directions for the development of cooperation between MSHU and the Barents Institute. They included the Arctic design, as well as - a multilateral study of the border phenomenon.

The meeting was held in the atmosphere of mutual understanding and constructive dialogue.
Third International Kant and Bakhtin Seminar Печать

On April 16-17 the Third International Kant and Bakhtin Seminar took place at Murmansk State Humanities University. Its topic was understanding the personality, values and borders in view of I.Kant, M. Bakhtin and L.Karsavin’s ideas. This is an annual scientific event arranged by MSHU Department of Philosophy and Law in cooperation with the University of Nordland (Bodo, Norway) within the educational and science and research project “Borderology”.

High North Dialogue Conference in Bodø, Norway Печать

On March 15-19 rector of MSHU Andrey Sergeev and head of international cooperation and public relations office, Associate Professor Inna Ryzhkova took part in international conference “High North Dialogue” at University of Nordland in Bodø, Norway. The conference participants were greeted by Bård Glad Pedersen, State Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Norway, Artur Wilczynski, Canadian Ambassador to Norway, Mikhail Noskov, Russian Federation Consul General in Kirkenes, Pål Pedersen, Rector of University of Nordland and Frode Mellemvik, Director of High North Center.

The conference was dedicated to cooperation between Russian higher education institutions and business within economic, investment, research and education projects. During the conference was organized a private session where various issues related to development of joint master program in practical knowledge implemented by the University of Nordland and MSHU were discussed. In addition, MSHU rector and head of International Cooperation Office attended the Editorial Board meeting focused on issues related to publication of joint monograph on philosophy of borders. With an introductory visit the Russian delegation attended the biological station in Svanhovd.
Consul General of Sweden in Saint-Petersburg visited MSHU Печать

On the 19th of January 2015 Consul General of Sweden in Saint-Petersburg Erik Hammarskjold visited MSHU. Consul General had a meeting with MSHU Rector Andrei Sergeev, Professor Olga Ivanischeva and representatives of International Cooperation and PR’ Office. Mr Hammarskjold also met with the students of MSHU and MIBO who study Swedish. The range of questions discussed during the meeting included perspectives of learning the Swedish language at MSHU, MSHU cooperation with Swedish Universities, problems of Student and Teacher Academic Mobility.
Final conference within the project “ArctiChildren InNet” Печать

On 11-13 November the final conference within the project “ArctiChildren InNet” took place in Rovaniemi. Representatives of MSHU Department of Social Sciences and International Office, as well as teachers from pilot schools: Murmansk Gymnasium #5, Lovozero secondary school and Kandalaksha secondary school – took part in the conference. The project was devoted to developing innovational eHealth model in a school community, promoting creation of conditions for building safe educational environment and social health of schoolchildren. During the conference the school teachers presented the results of the project work in the sphere of eHealth.
First ARTSMO network's Finnish-Russian intensive programme Печать

On October 27-31, 2014 MSHU Faculty of Arts Education, Technology and Design hosted FIRST ARTSMO network's Finnish-Russian intensive programme called “Murmansk – a social phenomenon. A service design workshop with graphic design, experimental design and fine art as mediums”, in which participated 13 Finnish and 12 Russian students. Finnish students came from four Finnish educational institutions: Lapland University (Rovaniemi), Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture, Institute of Design of Lahti University of Applied Sciences, Academy of Fine Arts (Helsinki). The students were supervised by three lecturers from Lapland University: Mr. Hannu Vanhanen, Ms. Heidi Pietarinen and Ms. Essi Kuure and four MSHU teachers: Tatiana Ashutova, Elena Nasyrova, Eleonora Agarkova and Elena Fedeneva. Before proceeding to their work in Murmansk, Russian and Finnish students had completed some pre-tasks: they had choosen a social, cultural or historical northern phenomenon, conducted its preliminary study, described and expressed it through art and design.
