In November 2014 the University celebrated its 75th Anniversary. The Anniversary is the time when we estimate the past, comprehend the present and plan the future. University met its Anniversary worthily not only demonstrating its correspondence to modern demands but also having great creative and professional potential. The results that the University has already gained are the basis for its future success, the outcome of the intense work of those who have created the University’s reputation. The history of Murmansk Arctic State University lets us look forward with certainty, because during this period the University has become the center of science and culture in the Kola North and its graduates, being the intellectual elite of the region, strengthen and increase its glory.

Winter School "Social Policy and human rights" Печать

MSHU students participated in the International Winter School "Social Policy and human rights" (in framework of joint Master's Program "Comparative Social Work") in Petrozavodsk

On March 3 -7, 2014 the International Winter School of Social Work was held at Petrozavodsk State University, as participants were students from different countries (Russia, Finland, Zambia, Swaziland, Kenya and Nepal) and teaches from partner institutions who had been implementing Master Program in "Comparative Social Work".
Pre-school education in Russia and Norway Печать

MSHU teachers and administrative staff in cooperation with Kindergarten #93 took part in the project,devoted to comparative analysis of pre-school education in Russia and Norway. The project was initiated by Finnmark Faculty of the Arctic University of Norway and received the support of the Barents Secretariat.

On the 24th – 26th of February the first seminar took place within the project. During the seminar the Russian and Norwegian participants made presentation on the modern state of pre-school education in Russia and Norway, paying special attention to changes in the legislation and methodology, challenges that kindergartens face and innovations in their work. The project participants visited a Norwegian kindergarten in Kirkenes and saw the ideas of democracy, cultural diversity and well-being support in practice.

On the 19th of December the Consul General of the Consulate General of Norway in Murmansk Ole Andreas Lindeman visited MSHU. Andrey Sergeev, MSHU Rector, made the General Consul acquainted with the history of the University, main directions of the programmes and realization of international cooperation. Mr. Ole Andreas Lindeman came up with a proposal to arrange regular meetings in the Consulate for the students who study Norwegian, and also expressed his willingness to deliver separate lectures for teachers and students within the program "Big world"
Diplomas of the Arctic University of Norway Печать

On the 12th December 2013 the Conferment Ceremony took place at MSHU during which Diplomas of the Arctic University of Norway were awarded to MSHU students and graduates who have completed the international educational program “Bachelor of Northern Studies”, jointly realized by two institutions. The program is multidisciplinary and it includes social, political, historical and natural sciences. For our students this is their second higher education.

During the three years the students completed 6 core courses distantly and then continued their studies for one semester at Finnmark Faculty of the Arctic University of Norway and took advanced emphasis courses. We wish the graduates excellent career and sincerely hope that the Diploma of a European institution will help them find their place in life.
Project “Peace Education” Печать

MSHU took part in the project “Peace Education” by invitation of the Arctic University of Norway. The idea of the project is to popularize the program in Peace Education, realized in Tromso, to develop methods of conflict resolution, to teach mediations technologies.

On 19-21 November the conference on ‘Peace Education. Network Cooperation” took place in Tromso where the Norwegian partners presented the structure and content of the Master program in Peace Education, realized at the Arctic University of Norway in Tromso.

On the 2nd of December representatives of the Arctic University of Norway visited MSHU. The delegation was headed by Mayor of Tromso Jens Johan Hjort and Rector of the Arctic University of Norway Anne Husebekk. The delegation included also the representatives of administration and the teaching staff of the University. During the visit the guests were informed about MSHU history, structure and main activities of work at the present stage. The following directions were defined as cooperation priorities with Finnmark Faculty of the Arctic University of Norway: Social Work, Sports and Tourism. Besides, the main directions of cooperation within Linguistics, Intercultural Communications and Sociology were selected. The parties also agreed to use the potential of Kirkenes Campus in implementation of joint projects and Bachelor and Master programs.
Intensive course in Tourism Печать

On 21-25 October the intensive course in Tourism took place at the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Physical Culture and Life Safety in cooperation with the Lapland University Consortium (Tourism Institute). During the first day the group of Finnish and Russian students visited the Ice-Breaker “Lenin” which is the information ground and main tourism object of the project.

The second year students of the program in Tourism revealed their professional competences and prepared the city center excursion.

The course program contained theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part included lectures by the leading teachers from Tourism Institute Mari Vahakuopus, Jose-Carlos Garcia-Rosell, Petra Paloniemi, and from MSHU - Professor Vladimir Denisov, Ass. Prof. Zoja Zhelnina, Ass. Prof. Maxim Palamarchuk.

The practical part included joint work in creativity teams and development of tourism products. The results were presented at the final event.
Representatives of the Consulate General of Germany Печать

On the 20th of November representatives of the Consulate General of Germany in Saint-Petersburg: Katrin Werdermann, Vice Consul General, Head of the Economy Department, and Dirk Zierpka, Deputy Head of Economy Department - made an official visit to MSHU. During the meeting with MSHU administration they discussed issues, related to the perspectives of the Russian-German cooperation in the sphere of secondary and higher education, opportunities to launch new projects and joint programs. Besides, the guests met MSHU students who study German and answered their questions.
