Welcome to Murmansk Arctic State University!

In November 2014 the University celebrated its 75th Anniversary. The Anniversary is the time when we estimate the past, comprehend the present and plan the future. University met its Anniversary worthily not only demonstrating its correspondence to modern demands but also having great creative and professional potential. The results that the University has already gained are the basis for its future success, the outcome of the intense work of those who have created the University’s reputation. The history of Murmansk Arctic State University lets us look forward with certainty, because during this period the University has become the center of science and culture in the Kola North and its graduates, being the intellectual elite of the region, strengthen and increase its glory.

Representatives of the Arctic University of Norway visited MSHU Печать

On the 2nd of December representatives of the Arctic University of Norway visited MSHU. The delegation was headed by Mayor of Tromso Jens Johan Hjort and Rector of the Arctic University of Norway Anne Husebekk. The delegation included also the representatives of administration and the teaching staff of the University. During the visit the guests were informed about MSHU history, structure and main activities of work at the present stage. The following directions were defined as cooperation priorities with Finnmark Faculty of the Arctic University of Norway: Social Work, Sports and Tourism. Besides, the main directions of cooperation within Linguistics, Intercultural Communications and Sociology were selected. The parties also agreed to use the potential of Kirkenes Campus in implementation of joint projects and Bachelor and Master programs.
Intensive course in Tourism Печать

On 21-25 October the intensive course in Tourism took place at the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Physical Culture and Life Safety in cooperation with the Lapland University Consortium (Tourism Institute). During the first day the group of Finnish and Russian students visited the Ice-Breaker “Lenin” which is the information ground and main tourism object of the project.

The second year students of the program in Tourism revealed their professional competences and prepared the city center excursion.

The course program contained theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part included lectures by the leading teachers from Tourism Institute Mari Vahakuopus, Jose-Carlos Garcia-Rosell, Petra Paloniemi, and from MSHU - Professor Vladimir Denisov, Ass. Prof. Zoja Zhelnina, Ass. Prof. Maxim Palamarchuk.

The practical part included joint work in creativity teams and development of tourism products. The results were presented at the final event.
Representatives of the Consulate General of Germany Печать

On the 20th of November representatives of the Consulate General of Germany in Saint-Petersburg: Katrin Werdermann, Vice Consul General, Head of the Economy Department, and Dirk Zierpka, Deputy Head of Economy Department - made an official visit to MSHU. During the meeting with MSHU administration they discussed issues, related to the perspectives of the Russian-German cooperation in the sphere of secondary and higher education, opportunities to launch new projects and joint programs. Besides, the guests met MSHU students who study German and answered their questions.
«ArctiChildren in Net»: Workshop in Alta Печать

On the 7th - 9th October 2013 the Arctic University of Norway (campus in Finnmark, Alta, Norway) hosted the international workshop within the project «АrctiChildren ln Net (2012-2014)» with the title: «CHALLENGES TO USE SOCIAL MEDIA IN HEALTH PROMOTION».

The participants of the workshop were researchers and scientists from Universities of Finland (University of Lapland, Rovaniemi; Kemi-Tornio University of Applied Sciences), Sweden (Luleo University of Technology), Norway (Finnmark campus of the Arctic University of Norway), Russia (Murmansk State Humanities University and Northern Arctic Federal University, Arkhangelsk), representatives of educational institutions of the Murmansk region and partner countries where research and approbation of innovation health promotion technologies took place.

The Russian participants presented the results of the survey among the pupils of the 7th - 10th forms at comprehensive schools in Lovozero, Kandalaksha, Murmansk and also made presentations on the topics which interest the modern youth that can be discussed in the internet.

The project work goes on.

On 25 September, 2013, delegation from the Arctic University of Norway visited Murmansk State Humanities University. Mainly there were representatives of Finnmark faculty educational department of the Arctic University of Norway. During their fam visit, guests got acquainted with general information about the structure and the content of MSHU scientific-educational activity, specificity of international projects, which are realized.
Barents Summit Печать

On 3-4 June 2013 the Barents Summit took place in Kirkenes, Norway. It brought together Prime-Ministers of Russia, Norway, Finland and Iceland, Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Nordic countries, business and civic circles of the Barents Euro-Arctic region. During the summit the new Declaration, which will define the perspectives of cooperation in BEAR for the nearest decades, was signed.

The fourth session of the Russian-Norwegian Program in Practical Knowledge Печать

On 20-23 May the fourth session within the Russian-Norwegian Master Program in Practical Knowledge (Borderology) took place at Nickel Arts School. During the session lectures and seminars were carried out by Professor from Nordland University Jan-Selmer Methi, and also MSHU Ass.Professors Tatiana Shtets and Alexander Sautkin. According to the project work plan the inauguration of the Norwegian-Russian Center after Kant and Bakhtin, which will function as the basic ground for Master Program in Practical Knowledge, took place at Nickel Arts School. Moreover, different seminars and conferences, as well as intensive courses, will be held at the Center. The next session will take place in Kirkenes in September 2013.
Finnish-Russian “A School for All” project workshop Печать

On the 14th–15th of May a workshop within the Finnish-Russian project “A School for All” took place at MSHU International Relations’ Office. The delegation from the University of Lapland included: Professor Sai Väyrynen, Scientific Leader of the project; Katja Norvapalo, Project Manager and Essi Kesalahti, the trainee.
